Hi guys, and welcome to my stop of the Spark Blog Tour! I’m so excited to be featuring the wonderful Rachael Craw, who is the loveliest author and a joy to speak with on Twitter. She just gets us book nerds, you know? 😛
So, my question for Rachael was:
If Spark was turned into a movie, who would you cast for your characters?
I’m not sure that I could pick anyone currently for the roles of either Evie or Jamie. I think they would need to be actors who were up and coming unknowns though I would love Jamie to be played by an actual Englishman for the sake of authenticity. But in establishing the right look for the characters perhaps some of these might be close…
Adelaide Kane from ‘Reign’ has an Evie-esque look about her. Though she has brown eyes and is very short and probably too old now … Janet Montgomery has a bit of the look but also has brown eyes. Kristen Stewart has the eyes! In fact her look is quite edgy and she gives off a strong angsty vibe but she’s been soundly Bella-ised so that would be a no-go. In fact Googling actresses with black hair has reminded me again that it is sooo hard to find a brunette with pale skin and eyes that aren’t brown. This is what scarred me as a child. No role models!!!
Xavier Samuels has a Jamie-esque look but he’s probably well past the age of playing an 18 year old and also is too short for my liking (why are they all so short?) … but then I guess if he were cast opposite the truly tiny Adelaide and we all squint a bit he might appear 6’4? He has the right mouth, jaw, brow combo. Here’s a medley of XS…
I have always visualised Jennifer Connelly as Evie’s aunt Miriam. (In fact if we could halve her age she would be a perfect Evie!)I have loved her since I saw her in Labyrinth! I think she would be perfect. This needs to happen.
Candice Accola’s character Caroline in the Vampire Diaries reminds me a bit of Kitty very warm, likeable and funny. Though I would prefer a proper English gal.
Jackson Gallagher from Australian soap Home and Away always, ALWAYS make me think of Aiden. The very first time I saw him on the show I thought, wow he is exactly how I pictured Aiden (though his hair is about scruffy in this pic).
Richard Harmon who plays Murphy on The 100 would be a good Richard (conveniently named and all) I loved him as Murphy, such a b@$7%@#! But so fabulous at it.
How’s that for starters? I would love to hear other people’s ideas.
Thank you so much to Rachael for taking the time out to cast her characters! I’m currently reading Spark and enjoying it so far, and the actors she’s chosen definitely aligns with how I’ve been imagining them in my head! Go and support our New Zealand authors by purchasing a copy of Spark! 🙂
